The Next Big Thing

Karen from Bibliophilic Blather has tagged me in the The Next Big Thing in which I’m to answer questions about my current work in progress.  So here it goes!

My version of Sleeping Beauty's castle

What is the working title of your book?

Death of Sleeping Beauty.

Where did the idea come from for the book?

I haven’t a clue. But if I were to guess I would say it came from my obsession with fairy tales. I was brainstorming with my husband one night and the idea just came to me.

What genre does your book fall under?

Fantasy.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

I would want some no named actors with a lot of talent.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Alivia Fair must rescue Sleeping Beauty or remain forever trapped in the princess’ castle while her grandfather’s murder moves on to its next target.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? I would like to have an agent; however, if I don’t find an agent in the next year I plan on self-publishing.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? Two weeks. I wrote the story during National Novel Writing Month. I ended up throwing the entire first draft away. It took about a year to write another draft.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
Breadcrumbs meet Fables.

Who or what inspired you to write this book? Myself! I decided I wanted to write a novel so I just did it.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

Death of Sleeping Beauty is a fractured fairy tale wrapped around eleven-year-old girl struggling to come to terms with her grandfather’s death.  It’s book one in a three book series.

  1. Hi there,

This is a great blog post. It's so good to get a little insight into what other writers are working on. I did this post a while back, and it's great.

Good luck with the writing - sounds like a great story!

    1. Thanks!!! I did a thorough edit since you read it (the story is the same but with less grammatical errors).
